Governor, others laud 48th IBCT during send off ceremony
“It is somewhere in the Governor’s handbook; it says that I’m supposed to show up on occasions like this and inspire you. But I need to be honest with you. I always leave these events having been inspired by you.” With those words, an emotionally charged Governor Sonny Perdue praised his soldiers, members of the 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, as they attended a rally held in their honor at the City Hall building in Macon.
The deployment of Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), 48th Brigade Combat Team (48th BCT) and C Company, 48th Brigade Special Troops Battalion (BSTB) completes an intensive training and mobilization campaign that began in October 2007. The two companies will join previously deployed 48th BDE assets, including 1st Squadron, 108th Calvary Regiment (RSTA) and 1st and 2nd Battalions of the 121st Infantry as part of Task Force Phoenix in Afghanistan this summer.
